Privacy Policy of the Charitable Organization "Ronald McDonald House Charities Foundation in Ukraine"

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected by the Charitable Organization “Ronald McDonald House Charities Foundation in Ukraine” (“RMHC”), including information collected from donors, through its website, programs, or other online service (“Site”), as well as offline. This Privacy Policy describes our information collection practices, such as the types of information we collect about Site visitors (including donors), and how we may use or share that information. By using this Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

General Provisions

Please review our Privacy Policy before using the Site. This initial summary of our Privacy Policy highlights some important points regarding our collection, use, and sharing of your information with third parties when you visit the Site.

RMHC may collect Personal Information (as defined below), such as your first and last name, email addresses, and phone numbers; payment information when you complete a transaction, such as a donation to RMHC; demographic and other information about you. We and our service providers may automatically collect certain information while you use the Site, including your Device Identifier (as defined below), browser/operating system, referring URL or advertisement, and all sections of our Site that you visit. Various technologies collect this information, including cookies, local storage, and web beacons. Additionally, we may receive information about you from third parties.

We may use the information we collect for various purposes, including to: enable you to use our Site; process your donation; personalize your experience and offers; and provide you with information, opportunities, or services from us and our third-party partners.

We may also provide your information to third parties, including our service providers and RMHC affiliates. We do not share Personal Information with unaffiliated third parties for those third parties’ marketing purposes. We note instances where service providers collect your Personal Information directly or indirectly, and we refer to the applicable service provider privacy policies below.

We work with advertisers and analytics service providers to target our advertising elsewhere on the Internet and to provide us with information about the effectiveness of our advertising and site traffic. We may share non-personal information (including hashed or otherwise de-identified Personal Information) with service providers for the same purposes. Some of these companies participate in a self-regulatory program that allows you to opt out of the use of information about you for targeted advertising.

Types of Information Collected

Information You Provide RMHC may collect Personal Information, which is information related to a specific identifiable individual (such as, but not limited to, first and last names, email addresses, phone numbers, and/or donation account usernames and passwords) (“Personal Information”). If the Site offers an account or personal profile, we may require you to provide us with Personal Information to create such an account. We may also collect payment information if you complete a transaction, such as a donation. Additionally, we may collect other information about you, such as demographic information (e.g., your age or gender), as well as information about your preferences and interests. If we combine demographic or other non-personal information with Personal Information, we will treat the combined information as Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Third parties may also collect information. Please review the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for each third party to determine their practices for collecting and sharing Personal Information (information below).

Information We Collect Automatically When You Access and Use the Site

We and our third-party service providers (including any third-party content, advertising, and analytics providers) may use various technologies that automatically or passively collect certain information about your use of the Site each time you visit or interact with the Site (“Usage Information”). Usage Information may include the web browser and operating system you use, the URL or advertisement that referred you to our Site, the search terms you entered into a search engine that led you to our Site, all sections of our Site that you visit, and the time of day you visit the Site, among other information. Usage Information also includes IP address, mobile device identifier, or other unique identifier (“Device Identifier”) for any computer, mobile phone, or other device used to access the Site. A Device Identifier is a number that is automatically assigned to your device, and our servers identify your device by its Device Identifier.

We may use Usage Information for a variety of purposes, including to improve or otherwise enhance the Site and our services, and for targeted content or offers to users. Additionally, we may provide Usage Information to third-party service providers to process transactions.

Cookies and Local Storage

“Cookies” and local storage are pieces of information (data files) that are transferred to a user’s browser on their device when the device is used to visit a site. These technologies are capable of storing a unique Device Identifier to allow a particular Internet site to recognize the device each time the device is used to visit the site, and can be used for many purposes, including remembering information that will allow you to use the Site in a more convenient manner. Like most Internet sites, the RMHC Site uses these technologies for various purposes. For example, we use these technologies to place targeted advertising elsewhere on the Internet, track the total number of visitors to our Site on an anonymous aggregate basis, and remember you when you return to the Site and remember your preferences. Web Beacons. Small graphic images or other web programming code called web beacons (also known as “pixel tags,” “1×1 GIFs,” or “clear GIFs”) may be included in our web pages and emails. Web beacons may be invisible to you, but any electronic image or other web programming code inserted into a web page or email can act as a web beacon. Web beacons or similar technologies may be used for a number of purposes, including, but not limited to, counting visitors to the Site, tracking how users navigate the Site, counting how many emails sent were actually opened, or counting how many particular links were actually viewed.

Additionally, we may use a number of other technologies that collect similar information for security, fraud detection, and prevention purposes.

Information About You Provided by Third Parties

We may receive information about you from third parties and may supplement the information we collect with external records to provide you with information, activities, or services you have requested, tailor content, offer you opportunities to participate in activities we believe may interest you, and for other purposes. We may combine information we receive from these other sources with information we collect through the Site. In such cases, we will apply this Privacy Policy to the combined information.

Use of Information

We may use the information we collect, including Personal Information and Usage Information:

  • to enable you to use our Site, as well as to provide related services and support, including responding to your inquiries, complaints, or comments;
  • with third-party service providers to process your donation and, where applicable, create your account or personal profile;
  • to provide you with information, opportunities, or services that you have requested or that we believe may interest you, including opportunities to make donations and other special opportunities from us and our third-party partners;
  • to personalize your experience by tailoring the content, recommendations, and opportunities we show you both on the Site and elsewhere on the Internet;
  • for internal business purposes, such as improving our Site and services;
  • to administer and process contests, sweepstakes, promotions, and surveys;
  • to process information you provide through our Site, including verifying that your email address is active and valid;
  • to contact you with administrative messages and, at our discretion, changes to our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, or any other policy;
  • to comply with regulatory obligations; and
  • for purposes disclosed at the time you provide your information, with your consent, and as described in this Privacy Policy.

The above use cases constitute (i) RMHC’s legitimate interest in processing or using your Personal Information; (ii) may be necessary to enter into or perform a contract with you; or (iii) require your consent, as described further in this Privacy Policy. Information Sharing

At our discretion, we may provide third parties with non-personal information, such as Usage Information and aggregate user statistics. RMHC does not sell or share Personal Information with unaffiliated third parties for direct marketing purposes.

We may share information we have collected about you (including Personal Information): (i) as disclosed at the time you provide your information, (ii) with your consent, (iii) as described in other sections of this Privacy Policy, or (iv) under the following circumstances:

Third Parties Providing Services on Our Behalf

RMHC may engage companies to perform a variety of functions, such as assisting with donation collection, providing technical services for our websites, and so on. Such companies may have access to Personal Information if necessary to perform certain functions.

Administrative and Legal Reasons

RMHC reserves the right to use or disclose any information (including Personal Information) as necessary to satisfy any law, regulation, or legal request, to protect the integrity of the Site, to fulfill your requests, or to cooperate in any law enforcement investigation or public safety investigation, to protect the legal rights or property of RMHC, our Site, or its users or any other party, or in emergencies to protect the health and safety of our users or the general public.

Sweepstakes, Contests, and Promotions

We may offer contests and other promotions (any, a “Promotion”) that may require registration. By participating in a Promotion, you agree to the terms, conditions, or official rules governing that Promotion, which may contain specific requirements (including allowing the Promotion sponsor(s) to use your name, voice, likeness, or other indicia of persona in advertising or marketing materials). If you choose to participate in a Promotion, Personal Information may be disclosed to third parties or the public in connection with the administration of such Promotion, including, but not limited to, in connection with winner selection, prize fulfillment, and as required by law or permitted by the Promotion terms or official rules (such as on a winners list).

Social Media Features

The Site’s functionality may allow interaction between the Site and third-party websites or services, such as Instagram or Facebook (“Social Media Features”), which you initiate. Examples of Social Media Features include the ability to “like” or “share” content from the Site or to “like” or “share” our page on a third-party service; to automatically or selectively display your social media posts/tweets on the Site; to create an RMHC account or RMHC personal profile using existing social media login information (known as social media login); and to otherwise connect the Site to a third-party website or service. If you choose to share content or otherwise post information through the Site on a third-party site or service, or vice versa, that information may be publicly available. Similarly, if you post information on a third-party platform that references RMHC, such as using an Instagram hashtag associated with RMHC in your post, your post may be published on the Site in accordance with that third party’s terms. Additionally, both we and the third party may have access to certain information about you and your use of the Site and the third-party site or service. Additionally, we may receive information about you if other users of a third-party website provide us with access to their profiles, and you are one of their “connections,” or information about you is otherwise available through your “connections'” web page, profile page, or similar page on a social network or other third-party website or service. If you choose to use a social media account, we may collect Personal Information, including your name and email address. Information we collect in connection with Social Media Features is governed by this Privacy Policy. Information collected and stored by the third party remains subject to the third party’s privacy practices, including whether the third party continues to share information with us, the types of information provided, and your choices regarding what is visible to others on that third-party website or service.

Business Transfers and Transitions

In the event of an RMHC transition (such as a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of its assets, including, without limitation, during any due diligence process), your Personal Information will likely be among the transferred assets. By providing your Personal Information, you agree that we may transfer such information to the acquiring organization without your further consent.

Third-Party Analytics Providers, Ad Servers, and Similar Third Parties

We work with network advertisers, advertising agencies, analytics service providers, and other vendors to provide us with information about traffic on the Site (including pages viewed and actions taken during Site visits), to display our advertising elsewhere on the Internet, and to provide us with information about Site usage and the effectiveness of our advertisements. We may share non-personal information (including hashed or otherwise de-identified Personal Information) with service providers for the same purposes. Additionally, our service providers may collect certain information about your visits and actions on the Site and other websites and services and may use this information to target you with our and third-party advertising.

These service providers may set and access their own tracking technologies on your device and may otherwise collect or have access to information about you. Some of these parties may collect Personal Information over time when you visit online sites and services. Cookies, including those set by third-party advertisers, may be used (among other things) to: target advertising, prevent you from seeing the same advertisement too many times, and conduct research regarding the usefulness of certain advertising to you. We may provide visitor usage information to third-party advertising companies, analytics providers, and other vendors for similar purposes.

For example, we use Google services, such as Google Analytics, to collect data about traffic on our Site, to place advertising when you visit other websites, and to share traffic data on our website with Google and other Google Analytics program participants. To opt out of: (i) Google Analytics, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on and (ii) Google advertising. In addition to Google, we may use a number of other service providers to provide advertising services. Some of these companies are members of the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”) or the Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising. Please note that these third-party advertising companies may still collect information about you, and opting out through these mechanisms does not mean opting out of advertising. You will continue to receive general advertising on the Internet or on your device.

Your Choices

RMHC will make good faith efforts to make the requested changes in our active databases. However, please note that we may retain information you update or change for RMHC administrative purposes. Certain Personal Information is required to use our Site and related services and support. A request for complete deletion of your Personal Information may result in termination of your account and/or your ability to make donations, receive our services and care, or participate in other transactions with RMHC. Additionally, it is not always possible to completely remove or delete all of your information from our databases, and residual data may remain on backup media or be retained as necessary to comply with our legal and/or contractual obligations.

If you wish to unsubscribe from our mailings, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails or contact us at the mailing address listed above. However, please note that even if you opt out of receiving marketing messages or donor requests, we reserve the right to send you certain messages related to your use of our Site, service announcements, notices of changes to this Privacy Policy or other Site policies, or similar administrative or transactional messages. These transactional messages may remain unchanged if you choose to opt out of marketing communications.

If you reside in the EEA or in another country that provides you with the right to request a copy of your data under law, you may also ask us to provide you with a copy of information about you by submitting a request to the Contact Us contacts. We will ask you to verify your identity before responding to such requests.

Links to Other Sites

We may offer links to sites not operated by RMHC, including individual chapters. If you visit one of these linked sites, you should review their privacy policies and other rules. We are not responsible for the policies and practices of others.

Users Residing Outside the United States and Consent to Transfer

The Site operates in the United States. If you are located in another jurisdiction, please be aware that information you provide to us will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Site or providing us with any information, you consent to this transfer, processing, and storage of your information in the United States, a jurisdiction in which privacy laws may not be as comprehensive as in the country where you reside or are a citizen.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

From time to time, RMHC may change this Privacy Policy and will notify you of material changes by posting the revised or amended Privacy Policy on our Site. We may also notify you in other ways at our discretion, such as through the contact information you have provided. Any changes will take effect immediately upon posting of the revised Privacy Policy, unless otherwise specified, and continued use of the Site after the effective date of the revised Privacy Policy (or other action specified in the revised Privacy Policy) will signify your consent to those changes. Rest assured, however, that unless we obtain your consent, any changes will not alter how we process previously collected information.
